Tuesday night felt like one of the last
I could get to the beach before the sun said goodnight.
Shorter days, longer nights shouldn’t make me so sad.
It’s part of the plan. Those seasons.
High tide greeted me when I arrived.
The pink gold glow would have pleased Van Gogh.
I climbed out on a log to watch two ducks
and the sunset.
The same couple of ducks that nipped at my ankles
last Friday, protecting their puddle on the path.
A labrador jumped on the sand and scared the ducks into the tide.
Silly oblivious dog. Ducks remained unamused.
I stood to salute the October sky.
I wished I could swim, float, dance on the sea.
Instead I do-si-do’d with the tide.
As the sun sank over the edge
I offered to return some green to the sea.
Emeralds woven into a scarf for the mermaids.
Then the sun kissed my head as it left for the day.
I stepped back on the path, not wanting to leave.
Lingering like the light, I stayed one minute more,
saluting the pink as it finished painting the sky.
Good night, Puget Sound.
Thank you, high tide.
Chapter One. Crossing to the Other Side.
Step one. Step onto the bridge. Don’t look down.
Step two. Move toward the light. Don’t look down.
Step three. Half way. Look up.
Step four. Dancing now. Step ball change.
Chapter Two. The Other Side.
The signpost isn’t the only one who can stand on one leg.
Left leg leap (a wise woman once said “left is the spiritual side”).
Light drips from my feet.
Magical forest… light really is dripping from my feet.
Chapter 3. Leaf Goddess Appears
Ta da! I sprout leaf wings.
I am a leaf peacock.
Thank you, Autumn.
This blog brought to you by the lure of the Sahale bridge at Islandwood.
One sunny Sunday not long ago, Batikin and I took the Nikon to the Rock Creek Farm Pumpkin Patch on Hwy 287 in Broomfield, Colorado. The fields go on and on for acres. We had a field nearly to ourselves for our photoshoot. If you were to pick a photo for an October calendar page, which would you vote for?
A (above) or B (below)?
Enjoy the rest of our photoshoot. We did!
Sneaking up on unsuspecting pumpkins.
